8pm

Will be showing a truly British cult movie...

"We are the mods we are the mods we are we are we are the mods!"

QUADROPHENIA
(Dir.Frank Roddam,1979)
With Phil Daniels, Leslie Ash, Ray Winstone, Sting.
Director Franc Roddam has brought us an array of young British acting talents who bring back London's nineteen-sixties Mods and Rockers.
Set against the soundtrack of The Who's 1973 mighty concept album "Quadrophenia", Phil Daniels plays working-class Jimmy, the drug-induced Mod, who hates his job and is misunderstood by his parents.
But by night, he comes alive, with the all-nighters, his pills and his scooter-riding friends. Always on a high, life can't get any better.
Then there's the Brighton scooter run, where both Mods and Rockers converge, ending in the battle of the cults on Brighton Beach. What goes up must come down, and with Jimmy's come-down, his life is turned around, and so begins his four-faceted mindset: Quadrophenia.

And the Ship Sails On...
(Dir. Federico Fellini, Italy 1984,127 minutes, Italian with English subtitles)
In Fellini’s quirky, imaginative fable, a motley crew of European aristocrats (and a lovesick rhinoceros!) board a luxurious ocean liner on the eve of World War I to scatter the ashes of a beloved opera diva.
Fabricated entirely in Rome’s famed Cinecittà studios, And the Ship Sails On (E la nave va) reaches spectacular new visual heights with its stylized re-creation of a decadent bygone era. A Fellini's must see.

+ THE PLUSH VOICE + LADY PLUSH + JULY POEMS

LADY UDBRILIA PLUSH POEMS FOR JULY 2009

(3 EXTRACTS FROM 'POEMS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY SURFACE', ALBION PERIOD)

1) 'COSMIC WITCH'

She comes from outer space
She wishes other's grace
She comes flying on her broom
Maliciously mental...
(she wonders....)
She scratches her head when she's thinking
or rather disappointed...
She bangs her feet on the floor whenever she's annoyed,
impatient or getting angry.
She watches around to see if things are matching.
She smiles at people when she's pleased,
otherwise she leaves and goes hiding behind the clouds or behind her face...
She frowns when things go wrong or not quite like she wishes...
She puffs when she can't have what she wants;
She never lies and quick she flies intensely high.
She sees and watches every moves...
She listen and weights every word.
She carries cosmic truth, Venus moods,
Mars falls and shiny Mercury...
She frequently guesses others' wishes...
She witches around..
creating things from nothing,
filling the gap of the unbearable void...
Make a wish...
I'm the Cosmic Witch! (London 21st March 1999)

2 ) 'I'M IN LOVE WITH LOVE'

I've never met the one that...
...and I suppose I never will...
Why?
Because the real one does not exist!
It does not exist!
That inflated feeling...
that misused word...
it's too beautiful, too rare, too deep,
too pure, too true to be true!
An uncontrollable rapture..
just one glance for a chance...
Intriguing understanding...
just one thought and it's ...
sheer emotion..
It's a symphony of souls,
an impressive fusion of say: yes!!!!!!
Elementary mental, exciting communication
...a shy, voluptuous pain,
sweet tears, lovely fears...
a discreet, sensuous, magic potion,
with one big goal:
One for two, two for one and...
friends for all!!!
It's a never ending source of energy!
always fresh, always warm!
Inspiring magnet, harmonious matter!
Where are you?!
I would give you everything!!!!!
Always crispy, always busy, always thirsty....
.. no need to tell you because I can read you...
just one look and I love you ...
lasting passion
contagious involvement...
secret happiness...
totally enchanted...
There's no hope,
I'm in love, love, love...
with love.

Date: Always...(London 1999)

3) 'MURKY LOVERS'

After having been severely provoked and put in a state of crisis
he screams at HER who's sitting on the bed:
" I don't know if I SHOULD strangle you or TAKE you!!!"
She murkily replies:
"STRANGLE me and then TAKE me or
TAKE me and then STRANGLE me!
In the first case you would be a NECROphile,
in the second a MURDerous SEX maniac!"

At this point he throws himself on her
and penetrates her with outstanding vigour!
She comes all at once screaming in full glory.

+ PLUSH POEMS + LADY UDBRILIA PLUSH IN ALBION LAND

3 Extracts from my collection
'POEMS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY SURFACE'

1ST POEM

'SPONGE
'

'I M A SPONGE...

I SUCK ...

THE
JUICE
OF
ZE
WORLD!
SQUEEZE ME SQUEEZE ME! YOU CAN HAVE IT TOO!'

Lady Udbrilia Plush, London, Winter 1998

2ND POEM

''Hi shadows!'

'Oh, it's night again, and I walk on the narrow road but...
I am never all alone!'
"Why are you always following me?
You stupid dark parrots!
Didn't I tell you to stay out of the way?
Don't you have a mind of your own?
Don't you have somewhere else to go?
Always copying what I do.
Always walking where I go!
Always staring from that wall!
Oh no, I can't cope with you,
no, I can't bear your silent moves anymore!

Sometimes you scare me to death!
sometimes you do threat my health!

It's not fair, jumping out of the corner before me!
...followed by my clones behind me!
...lying in ambush when it's my turn!

No and no, I won't play with you no more, find another soul to worn!
Say good bye and leave me alone!

Oh I am home!'

...and next day again at night...

Now I walk, in my thoughts there're no shadows anymore...
...but my truly mine again...
come to share my steps with me...
saying: "Hello, my dear, we are yours...
we are here! how are you?",
and I say:" Hi, I am fine, I walk, and you?",
"Well, we are fine and we walk too!!!"

LADY UDBRILIA PLUSH, London, March '99

3rd poem

TO A HATED BOSS...

'HEART OF FUR'

'He had black eyes, black like the arshole of a horse!
He had hair like matresses
Compact mass of woollen material
He had a heart made of fur
Plenty of ticks its anus
In the place of a ass he had a couch made of lead...
heavy like his inconsistent head!

In the place of a brain he had a pocket calculator
Made of pumice stone
Porous and light, with no memory, with no story

Heart of fur bossed around in vain
because I hated him indeed and
I use to spit my slobber in its tea
and watching him drinking it I wickedly delighted myself!'

PLUSH JUNE NOVITA'

Lady Plush created and is now running and curating the St Leonards Film Club on regular basis since March 2009 through membership to give this area an injection of film and overall diverse culture...

One screenplay optioned.

One micro budget feature film and plusiers shorts/promo in development.

Events will pass on that one...why?
...as too many are doing the same mixed media thing now...
it was good to do it in the first place.

PLUSH Vocabulary booklet and a book of Barbara's collection of poetry
from 1982 to 2009 'POEMS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY SURFACE' with her own illustrations are coming out nicely...

Photography is an 'expressionist' reality now ... www.plushproductions.co.uk/gallery/index.html

Music composition/film score sonic-escapes also a reality from Lady Plush

Keeping the Plush plushing... as always...as distinctively unhinged voice.

RUSSIAN ARK

(Dir.Alexander Sokurov, 96mins, 2002)

An unnamed narrator, unseen by the audience and voiced by the director, wanders through the Winter Palace (now the main building of Russian State Hermitage Museum) in St Petersburg. The narrator implies that he has died in some horrible accident and is a ghost drifting through the palace. In each room, he encounters various real and fictional people from various time periods in the city's three-hundred-year history. He is accompanied by "the European", who represents the nineteenth-century traveller the Marquis de Custine, and who is visible to the audience. At times the narrator-director and the companion interact freely with the other performers, and at other times, they go completely unnoticed. It was filmed using a single 90-minute Steadicam sequence shot.

After the film we can all go dancing at Relax Cafe' with balalaika, vodka and great Russian music!
